FAQ about this system:

Can I install this system myself? Yes, even someone with no experience can easily install all our wire balustrade systems. We even have simple to step by step instructions available for view or download, click on the instructions tab for details.

Do I need any special tools?

Purchasing Factory Swaged Wires: If purchasing the Quick-Fit System factory swaged; your wires will arrive to your door manufactured to your exact lengths. You will require a HN-02 Nut Rivet Insert Tool with LHT Mandrel to install the nut rivets. You will also require some common handyman tools including an electric drill, drill bits, shifters etc. to install. We also recommend the use of a ProRig Multi Tool for easier installation.

Purchasing Components Only: If purchasing the Quick-Fit System components only; you will require a hydraulic press and a HN-02 Nut Rivet Insert Tool with LHT Mandrel (in addition to common handyman tools) Contact your local supplier for further details on this. We also recommend the use of a ProRig Multi Tool for easier installation.

What size and type of stainless steel wire do I use? This method is recommended for use with 3.2mm 1 x 19 - 316 grade stainless steel wire rope. This wire is the most functional for stainless steel wire balustrade systems due to its bright surface finish, attractive appearance, durability, strength and low stretch. To ensure a high quality finish to your balustrade we recommended the use of ultra high quality ProRig Wire Rope.

What spacing do I need between my wires? When using 3.2mm 1 x 19 stainless steel wire, you will usually need 80mm spacing (11 runs) between your wires when using a standard one (1) meter high handrail (960mm to the underside) with 1200-1500mm post spacing. This is only a general guide, please visit our regulations section for detailed information on the current NCC Regulations.

Can I use this balustrade system on a stair or angled section? No, the Quick-Fit System cannot be used on stair sections due to the nut rivets not being able to be installed on an angle. It is recommended to use the Flexi-Fit System (for metal posts) on stair sections.

What size pilot hole should I drill for my Nut Rivets? You will require a 10mm hole in your posts when using 6mm nut rivets.

What thickness tube can I use? Standard 6mm nut rivets are suitable for use in 0.7-4.0mm tube. We also have longer nut rivets available hich are suitable for use in 4.2-6.6mm tube.

What is the maximum length run I can span? The Quick-Fit System can easily span up to 6 meters. Longer swage studs can be used to achieve longer runs. Please contact your supplier for further information and recomendations prior to ordering.

What size hole should I drill through my intermediate posts? A 7.5mm hole through your intermediate posts will allow the swage stud to pass through. Please note: If you are using grommets, the required drill size is 11/32".

Can I take my balustrade wire around corners? It is not possible with this system to take the balustrade wire around corners.

Can I use this system if I have metal posts? Yes.

Can I use this system if I have timber posts? No, however the ProRig Original Design BS-QF1 Quick-Fit (Timber) System suits metal posts and will give your balustrade a similar look.
